no seatbelt necessary

michigan and it's motor city has always been a sore spot for me. (perhaps if the people mover did more than just go in a circle...) but once a year, an event comes around that makes one able to put aside things like this and this: the woodward dream cruise. even though the pontiac part of the festivities are just a few minutes away, and we go almost every august, my dad still gets excited when dream cruise time rolls around.

according to him, his souped up 32 ford is my rembrandt. i still don't think i quite get any car obsession, but i can appreciate that part of it. as we walked around and he pointed out details that have been simplified and streamlined over the years, i couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia myself (of course it was the retro script that i liked the most) for these beautifully designed relics of a time gone by.
